Miocic vs. DC III on August 15
The biggest news of the day in the MMA community, and arguably the world, is that UFC booked the third fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. The president of the organization, Dana White, stated yesterday that the bout has been confirmed, but that the location of the same still isn’t revealed. He probably wants to wait and see how things with COVID-19 develop and then make the decision.
“I don’t have a location yet, but the trilogy with those two great heavyweights will happen this summer,” White said.
Cormier, immediately reacted following this, and posted a status on his Twitter account regarding the upcoming match.
“This one is for all the marbles. 1-1, both knockouts but great fights, I can’t wait to fight this dude again!! Now it’s time to work as hard as I ever trained.”
According to some sources, this will be the last fight for Cormier who is going to retire afterward.
Miocic vs. Cormier III should be the headliner of th UFC 252.
Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, Four Events Booked
White revealed the location of his famous Fight Island. Over the last few weeks, he’s been pretty mysterious about the place announced as the next big thing for the UFC. Fight Island would allow fighters from all over the world to gather and fight regardless of the COVID-19 situation.
White is aware that they might not be able to organize some events in the USA, which is why he turned his attention to Abu Dhabi, where he already had positive experiences with previous events held there.
Fight Island is located at the Yas Island, with the entire complex being built especially for fighting purposes. We have an arena, hotels for the fighters, places for eating, training, and all that is within a 10 square miles of a restricted area, Only the persons with special accreditation can enter that zone.
Usman vs. Burns At the UFC 251
The first event at the Fight Islan is set for July 11, and that would be the UFC 251. After this one, there are three more, on July 15, 18 and 25.
The UFC 251 has three title clashes, with the most important of them all being the one for the welterweight belt, where the champion Kamaru Usman meets the challenger from Brazil Gilbert Burns.
Burns recently defeated the former champion, Tyron Woodley, and he did that pretty confidently. Durinho, as the fans call him, is one of the most popular fighters now, and this was a logical move of the organization.
Two other title matches are between Jose Aldo and Petr Yan, for the vacant bantamweight title, and the second is the featherweight bout, the rematch between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski.
