Alphonso Davies Strikes Again in Bayern’s Superb Win Over Eintracht

  • Canada’s Alphonso Davies scores in Bayern’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
  • The Bavarians and the Canadian international are to meet with Borussia Dortmund next Tuesday in the most interesting matchup of the season.
  • Leverkusen defeats Monchengladbach on the road, seizes the Champions League spot.

Davies Notches an Assist and a Goal

Bayern was one goal away from completely repaying their debt to the guests from Frankfurt. The final score of the match was 5-2, with the note that the Canadian teenager, Alphonso Davies managed to score and to add one assist to his tally.

He would make a fantastic cross to Thomas Muller in the 41st minute, with the German veteran executing routinely following this gift. In those moments, the result was 2-0, as Leon Goretzka broke the ice in the 17th minute.

One minute into the second half, Robert Lewandowski netted to make it three to nil, and at that point, it seemed that Bayern might inflict a massive catastrophe to the guests. But, in no time, the champions got into an awkward position, allowing two goals in the span of just three minutes.

It was Eintracht’s defender Martin Hinteregger who scored, in the 52nd and the 55th minute, decreasing to 3-2 and freezing all Bayern’s fans.

Yet, six minutes later, Davies took care of that situation, storming towards the goal and going through several of rival’s players, finishing his individual effort attractively.

Until the end, Hinteregger scored an own goal, and unfortunately sealed the fate of his side.

With this win, Bayern kept his four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund. The Millionaires defeated Wolfsburg on the road 0-2, and are now getting prepared for the big derby this Tuesday when Davies and Bayern come to Dortmund.

What is a good situation for the champions is the fact that there won’t be any spectators at Signal Iduna Park. The atmosphere created by the Yellow Wall is one of the best in the world, and it often helps the hosts in breaking their opponents.

Leverkusen Wins the Derby of the Round

Many fans around the world were anxiously expecting to see the clash between two candidates for the Champions League, and possible title contenders, yet with minimal chances. Leverkusen defeated Borussia in Monchengladbach 1-3 and jumped over them in the standings.

If by any chance Dortmund beats Bayern next week, the Company’s Eleven as the fans call Bayer, will have come theoretical prospects of catching the trophy. For now, they are in a good position to reach one of the top four places and obtain the ticket for the Champions League.

In other games, last-placed Paderborn played 1-1 at home with Hoffenheim. The hosts are still hammered to the bottom of the standings with just 18 points, and aren’t looking as if they have the strength to avoid the relegation.

Also, Werder got away with a win from Freiburg, 0-1. It was a lucky turn of events for the guests, who were inferior to the hosts in every aspect of the game.
