Timo Werner Near Chelsea

  • Red Bull Leipzig’s striker, Timo Werner, allegedly agreed on terms with Chelsea.
  • The German was in talks with Liverpool and seen as the new Reds’ player.
  • Werner is one of the best strikers in Europe.

Chelsea Snatches Werner

According to several media sources from Europe, Chelsea will land the fantastic striker. The team from London is about to activate a $67 million clause, which expires on June 15th, and transfer Werner to Stamford Bridge.

After that, it is expected to see Chelsea offering a salary to the player of $250,000 per week, and make him one of the highest-paid persons in the club.

If this happens, it would no doubt become one of the biggest twists in the soccer world this year. The 24-year old was near Liverpool, and pretty much everyone saw him transferring to Anfield Road. Jurgen Klopp stated on several occasions that he wants Werner and didn’t hide his affection towards Leipzig’s forward.

Klopp’s intentions were to add Werner to the deadly trio Salah-Mane-Firmino this summer and to make Liverpool’s offensive potential even greater. On the other side, RB’s player was thrilled with the opportunity to play for the Reds.

“Liverpool are the best team in the world at the moment, and when you’re linked with that team, it makes me very proud,” said Werner at the time.

The one thing which did bother him was the fact that he might play less frequently than in RB, and that he wouldn’t be a regular starter. In the end, that could be the factor that led to this sudden change.

Werner’s Bright Future in Chelsea

The German should fit in perfectly in Frank Lampard‘s style of play. There are several reasons for that. The first one is that he is a master-class player. He scored 31 goals in 40 games this season, adding 11 assists, across all competitions.

Without a doubt, Werner is the no.1 reason for RB’s excellent performances during this season, and is one of the best if not the best striker in Europe at the moment.

The second reason for his bright future in Chelsea is Lampard’s vision of the team, in which Werner takes one of the leading spots. With him and Tammy Abraham upfront, the Blues would be one of the most dangerous teams in the world. When we add that Chelsea also signed Hakim Ziyech, who will come from Ajax at the end of the season, this claim gets an additional boost.

With these two guys in the attack, plus the already formed midfield, we could expect from Chelsea to have one of the best counter-attacks in the entire world.

And in the end, Werner himself wouldn’t have to worry about his minutes on the court. He will be the regular starter for Lampard, and that is something he values the most.

We can expect to see this deal finished in the next couple of days.
