New England Patriots terrorize Sam Darnold, Champs beat the Jets 33-0

New England Patriots recorded a 33-0 win over the New York Jets this Monday night. It was another display of the reigning champions’ power and their ruthlessness. Bill Belichick’s team was more than dominant on both sides of the football, keeping their record in this campaign perfect.

With 7-0 right now, the Pats are looking unstoppable, but according to Tom Brady, the current record isn’t going to bring anything to his team.

“We are long way from thinking about those things, and again, happy we won. Seven wins doesn’t get you anything in the NFL,” said the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Brady ended the night with 249 yards, completing 31 of his 45 passing attempts. He had one touchdown and one pick, but in general, didn’t have any problems in the field of MetLife Stadium.

The guy who demolished the Jets was Sony Michel. Although Michel recorded just 42 rushing yards on 19 carries, he had 3 touchdown runs, and was executing all the solid opportunities of the guests.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Sam Darnold, the No.3 pick in last year’s draft, was experiencing one of the worst nights of his career. He had five turnovers, 4 interceptions, and a fumble, and ended the game with just 86 yards, 11 for 32. His passer rating of 3.6 was the lowest one since 1975 and JJ Jones 2.7.

“It was a rough night out there,” Darnold said. “And obviously, I’ve got to be better and learn from the mistakes, but we will get better.”

The sophomore quarterback was under heavy pressure all night, as Bellichick decided to use blitzes constantly. The reason for that was the fact that  Jets’ offensive line had suffered several changes before this match. Left tackle Chuma Edoga and left guard Alex Lewis were playing together for the first time, and the Pats coach wanted to use that in the best possible way.

Darnold was picked on his first throw of the game.

“Our guys were ready to go today,” Belichick said. “We got off to a good start. That was a great opening drive. It took up most of the first quarter.”

Brady diversified his attack in this match, and five guys had 39 or more receiving yards. What was noticeable is that the Pats’ leader focused more on short passes. Whether is that a preparation for some upcoming challenges we don’t know, but he was doing his part of the job excellently.

The only one who tried to defy the guests was Le’Veon Bell, who had 70 rushing yards on 15 carries. But he alone couldn’t make any difference for the Jets.

After beating the Dallas Cowboys in the previous round, the public expected to see a much better performance of the Jets tonight. Following Darnold’s recovery from mononucleosis and a win on his comeback, some even predicted that Adam Gase’s team might be on a turning point. We could see that it wasn’t the case.

Jets who are 1-5, are heading for Jacksonville to play against the Jaguars, and have a clash with the Dolphins in Miami a week later. Meanwhile, the champions are awaiting the Cleveland Browns at home next Sunday. Afterward, Bellichick’s crew travels to Baltimore to face the Ravens.
