Hamilton Wins His 8th Hungarian GP, Displays Domination
- Lewis Hamilton won today’s race for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
- The English driver tied Michael Schumacher’s record for the number of wins at one track.
- He was dominant throughout the entire race.
- Verstappen was second, and Bottas third.
- Canada’s Lance Stroll was excellent, finishing fourth.
Hamilton’s Brutal Domination
Lewis Hamilton posted another win, leading from the start, up until the end, displaying why many consider him the best driver of all times.
The Englishman was far ahead of the entire competition, competing on a totally different level. There is no doubt that the reigning champ is the absolute ruler of the F1 caravan right now, and that he has the biggest chances for winning this year’s title also.
He had a nasty first weekend in Austria and wants to erase that as soon as possible. So far he’s doing great, winning twice in a row.
“I definitely feel round one was multiple different punches that I wasn’t perhaps ready for – but I refocused, which I do every race. I need to try and keep this up.” said Hamilton.
After being untouchable at yesterday’s qualifications, the champ was in the same rhythm today. He began the race very well, avoiding the problems at the start and moving away from the rest of the caravan. While all others fought for their places, Hamilton was alone on top, confidently cruising towards his 86th career win.
We need to say that he now has five triumphs fewer than Michael Schumacher and that he also tied the German’s record in numbers of wins at one circuit. With today’s one, he has eight in Hungary, while Schumi has eight in France, at Magny-Cours track.
Verstappen Second, Bottas Third
Hamilton’s teammate, Valtteri Bottas managed to reach the podium in the end, even though he lost several places during the start. The Fin experienced steering problems, losing his second place.
On the other side, Max Verstappen ended second even though he started the race as seventh. The Dutchman had a perfect start taking over multiple cars, positioning himself behind Hamilton.
He, too, had problems previously. During the warmup lap, he hit his left front wing into the wall, breaking it. With this disadvantage, he managed to perform a good start, and after that endure until the first pit stop one, he changed the damaged part.
“It was not how I wanted it in the beginning ending up in the barriers. But the mechanics did an amazing job to fix the car. I don’t know how they did it but incredible. To pay them back with second place, of course, I’m very pleased with that,” he said
Stroll Finishes Fourth
The Canadian favorite, Lance Stroll, ended fourth with his Racin Point BWT Mercedes. Stroll now has 18 points and is tied at the seventh place in the drivers’ standings. The No.1 is, of course, Hamilton with 63 points, five more than Bottas, who sits second. Max Verstappen is third with 33.
The next race is on August 2 in Silverstone.
