- The Brooklyn Nets and Jamal Crawford have reached an agreement that would see the veteran joining the team.
- The team from Brooklyn has multiple problems regarding injured players, and they are finding ways to fill in the gaps.
- It seems that Michael Beasley would also join the Nets, but that is still not confirmed.
Crawford to Help Nets
The 40-year old veteran will try to cover up all the losses franchise from Brooklyn experienced over the past few days. Per Shams Charania, one of the most recognized NBA insiders, the two sides struck a deal last night.
“Jamal Crawford has agreed to a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell,” he wrote on his Twitter account this Wednesday night.
After losing Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, the Nets will appear in Orlando without Spencer Dinwiddie, Wilson Chandler, and DeAndre Jordan. That is a massive blow for the team who has excellent chances of reaching the playoff spot.
The latest and most problematic setback was Dinwiddie’s test results, which came back positive for COVID-19. He was the best player of the Nets throughout the entire season, and with him in the starting lineup, the team posted better results than with Kyrie.
Crawford’s arrival will provide experience in the backcourt, as he played 19 seasons in the NBA. The last one was with the Phoenix Suns, where he played 64 games, averaging 18.9 minutes per night, delivering 7.9 points and 3.6 assists.
He set several records while playing for the team from Arizona, one of them becoming the oldest player to score more than 50 points – 51 against the Mavericks, with 39 years and 20 days, removing Michael Jordan from that place. This was also the best scoring record for one player who didn’t begin the game in the starting lineup.
Crawford played 1,326 games throughout his career, posting 14.6 points and 3.4 assists per match.
Michael Beasley Near Brooklyn Too
Charania also reported that Michael Beasley could join the Nets also. According to his sources, the two sides are very close to signing a deal.
“Crawford reached an agreement with the Nets, and Beasley is progressing toward a contract to provide Brooklyn with two accomplished veterans in NBA restart. Beasley also has a strong relationship with Kevin Durant,” he wrote.
Beasley, the former second overall pick from the 2008 NBA Draft and one of the biggest talents of his generation, spend some time with the Guandong Southern Tigers back in 2019. It is the last place where he played.
Previously, he played for the Lakers in the 2018-19 season, being traded to the Clippers on February 7, and waived two days later. He played 26 games for the purple and gold, averaging 7 points per night and 2.3 boards. In his 12 seasons, he played for seven teams – Miami, Minnesota, Phoenix, Houston, Milwaukee, New York and the Lakers.
He appeared in 609 matches, posting 12.4 points and 4.7 boards. His best season was with the Timberwolves in 2011 once he had 19.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in 73 games. Beasley would never again repeat those numbers.
Apart from these two sides, it seems that the NEts are also in negotiations with Amir Johnson, who would fill in the gap at the forward position.
