- Newcastle is aiming to become a top European club after the Saudi takeover.
- Nabil Fekir and Kalidou Koulibaly are the latest names involved in transfer stories.
- Superstars like Gareth Bale, Philippe Coutinho and Cavani also among targets for the summer transfer window.
English Premier League team, Newcastle United, is involved in numerous stories of the European media. Since it was revealed that Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is in the last stage of buying the club, and that he prepares to invest an enormous sum of money in the future, all sorts of rumors emerged regarding future transfers.
Fekir and Koulibaly On the Radar
However, in the recent few days, according to the media in England, the new management made some serious contacts with several players who could become the stars of the new Magpies’ super-team. Among them are Nabil Fekir and Kalidou Koulibaly.
The first one was a desire of Liverpool last year, but didn’t end up at Anfield, due to his injury troubles. He is currently in Real Betis, where he continued to play at a high level, and established himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in Europe.
It is no wonder why Barcelona and Real Madrid want to see this guy in their respective uniforms and are pushing for Betis to lower the buyout clause of $120 million. On the other side, this sum won’t be a problem for the wealthy Saudi Prince, who is one of the richest persons on Earth.
The other player is Napoli’s defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Even though Manchester United pressured Napoli for his transfer, the Senegalese player is still in Italy. Right now, his price is around $95 million, with the player’s salary of $14 million. With United calculating and hoping that the COVID-19 pandemic might lower the costs, even more, a chance appeared for Newcastle to jump in and use its financial superiority provided by the new owners.
Newcastle Wants Big Names
The new management is also looking for a new manager, and yesterday the news broke that former Roma and Zenit leader, Luciano Spalletti would take over the coaching duties at Saint James Park. Allegedly, he is in talks with the new executives and is close to reaching an agreement with them.
The two-time Serie A Coach of the Year had competition in Massimiliano Allegri, but it seems that he got the advantage over him.
Per sources, Newcastle already started pursuing high-caliber players who are not satisfied in their clubs or are on the transfer list.
Among them are Gareth Bale and Philippe Coutinho. Real wants to get rid of Bale’s big contract, while on the other side, Barca intends to sell the Brazilian and raise money for Lautaro Martinez or Neymar. Both of them want to come back to England, where they became world-class stars. What is also attractive for both is the fact that they would be in a position to fight for the trophies right away.
Also, Edinson Cavani, who will leave PSG at the end of the season, is one of the biggest names on Newcastle’s shortlists, as well as Raja Nainggolan, Cagliari’s offensive midfielder.
