Blue Bombers Start to Practice on Thursday

The CLF champions are the first team in the league to start practicing again. This is huge news, and something expected for a while, after seeing the lockdown measures eased all over the world.

The Blue Bombers‘ president and CEO, Wade Miller, revealed the news about that this Tuesday, adding that the league allowed his team to proceed with training.

“The CFL has given authorization as well, effective today, to open back up facilities based on provincial health and municipal authorities,” he said.

For sure, this made the gridiron fans all over Canada happy because it could be a sign that the season might start earlier than predicted. At the moment the league is suggesting that there won’t be any football until September. And that is the earliest possibility.

However, the current trend in the world is that social restriction due to the COVID-19 is slowly easing, and we see that numerous sports competitions are already getting back on track. For example, the German Bundesliga already had three rounds, and several other European soccer leagues are about to resume their respective competitions.

As for CFL, there are certain rules which need to be followed when organizing and executing training. All of the participants will be screened, and their temperature will be measured. Also, the training plan needs to be scheduled to avoid mass gatherings, because there can only be two persons during the drills. It is either going to be a coach and a player or two players.

As we said, the Blue Bombers are the first team to start training and to reopen their facilities, and so far, there were no indications from the other franchises that they might to the same.

CLF commissioner Randy Ambroise spoke about that, and he said that the league would discuss that also, and that all he wants is for everyone to be safe.

“We’re going to be discussing that this week,” Ambrosie told. “We want to be very cautious, and part of the process is you have to be certain you can do it right… you have to not only have a good plan but be able to execute against that plan.”

Bombers Want to Defend the Title

After beating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 107th Grey Cup, the Blue Bombers won their 11th title. This one was very special because the fans of the team from Winnipeg waited for it for 29 years. After three titles in the second part of the 80s, the Blue Bombers became a mediocre team, with occasional shines, yet without a Grey Cup.

They are aiming to defend the trophy and become the first team since Montreal Alouettes, who managed to do that. Back in 2008 and 2009, Montreal defeated Saskatchewan Roughriders on both occasions, once with just one point, and the second time with three.
