Two Brooklyn Nets’ players Positive for COVID-19

  • Spencer Dinwiddie and DeAndre Jordan tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
  • The two players won’t be eligible for the NBA restart.
  • Early on during the pandemics, Kevin Durant and few other Nets’ players also tested positive for this virus.
  • Brooklyn is currently 8th in the standings.

Dinwiddie and Jordan Have COVID-19

The news about more COVID-19 infections in Brooklyn appeared last night. Center DeAndre Jordan, and guard Spencer Dinwiddie tested positive for Corona.

Jordan revealed his health status via Twitter this Monday night, adding that he won’t be participating in activities in Orlando.

“Found out last night and confirmed again today that I’ve tested positive for COVID while being back in the market. As a result of this, I will not be in Orlando for the resumption of the season,” he wrote.

As for Dinwiddie, he is also positive per several insiders but is waiting for the official confirmation of his results. Though, the same sources are claiming that one of the best players on the Nets definitely won’t appear in Orlando.

Jordan played 56 games in 2020, posting 8.3 points, 10 boards, and 1.9 assists while hitting 66.6% from the field. Dinwiddie, however, was the best player on the team, with 20.6 points, 6.8 dimes, and 3.5 boards in 64 matches played.

This is going to be a massive setback for the franchise from Brooklyn, who already missed two of their biggest names – Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

The two superstars were out much earlier, Irving after playing just 20 games before the hiatus, in which he didn’t show some respectable performances. In contrast, Durant didn’t play a single minute in Brooklyn’s jersey. The former NBA MVP injured his Achilles in the NBA Finals against the Raptors last year, and he spent the entire time recovering.

Due to the delay of the season, rumors emerged that Durant might come back and lead the Nets in the remaining part of the competition. The fans did hope for such an outcome, but in the end, both the player and the franchise didn’t want to risk anything. According to their assessment, the team wouldn’t be able to attack the title at this moment, even with Durant’s presence on the court.

Nets’ Tough Situation

Without all the above-mentioned names, plus Wilson Chandler, who decided to sit out the remaining part of the season due to health concerns, the Nets’ position before the restart is pretty bad.

Right now, they are occupying the seventh spot in the standings 30 wins and 34 defeats, and are half a game ahead of the Orlando Magic. After the recent development, most of the fans and the experts predict Nets’ fall, with some even claiming that they could miss the playoffs. The Wizards are six games behind, and they could easily decrease that gap below four matches. If that happens, they would be obliged to play the best-of-three series between themselves, and the winner would proceed to the playoffs.

The NBA resumes on July 30 in Orlando, Fla, with all the teams playing 8 games each.
