The Seattle Seahawks defeated Minnesota Vikings, 37-30, in a pretty entertaining Monday Night Football matchup. The fans at the CenturyLink Field had a chance to see a roller coaster, which eventually concluded happily for their team.

“We just stayed poised,” Russell Wilson said after the game “We knew that we were moving the ball.. we stayed on the course, we just kept believing, and we just caught fire, kept swinging and kept making plays.”

Minnesota was up 17-10 at the break and was looking much better on the field. The guests managed to stop Willson, and even to force an interception which led to a return touchdown. It was Anthony Harris who reached the ball after a ricochet, which saw Wilson accidentally tipping the ball to the Vikings’ safety. He would make a 20-yard rush to score a go-ahead TD and lif this team to 14-7.

But what kept the hosts in the game was their running game. Seattle Seahawks offense generated 218 yards on the ground, and their running backs Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny were instrumental. They combined for three touchdowns, two by Penny and one from Carson, but besides that, they were pushing the Seahawks forward in the moments when Wilson didn’t have a solution of his own in the offense.

The especially important was the third period, in which the home team scored 17 points and didn’t allow a single one. In the closing moments of the same, the game-deciding play took place, and it was delivered by David Moore, whose only catch of the day provided a 60-yard touchdown with five seconds to go, giving the Seattle Seahawks a 27-17 edge.

They would open the last period with Penny’s 13-yard receiving TD, and at that point, it seemed that the hosts are heading for a certain win. But the Vikings didn’t want to make peace with that.

Less than a minute following Penny’s score, one huge mistake of the Seattle’s defense left Laquon Treadwell alone downfield, and Kirk Cousins didn’t miss a chance for a long pass. It was a 58-yard TD that brought back the guests to life.

“We just made a mental mistake, missed the coverage call, and that is how they got their long touchdown play, it’s really unfortunate how that happened,” said Pete Carroll. “But that gave them a chance to hang in there, and they did a good job doing that.”

Minnesota scored once more after that, with Kyle Rudolph’s TD, but they couldn’t make a comeback, which would no doubt be one of the biggest this season.

They now slipped to the second position in the NFC North, behind the Green Bay Packers. Minnesota had 8 wins and 3 losses, while Packs have one victory more. Although this loss complicated things for the Vikings, their coach Mike Zimmer isn’t worried about the current situation.

“We’re 8-4 we have four games left, three division games. This isn’t the end of the world; we still have a lot of good football left to play,” he said.

His team will face the Detroit Lions next week. On the other hand, the Seahawks are traveling to LA to meet the reigning NFC champions, the Los Angeles Rams.
