Rob Gronkowski Comes Back From Retirement, Traded to Buccaneers

  • Gronkowski is traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • The Pats had rights on a famous tight end, and one more year of the contract.
  • He and Brady will continue their magnificent relationship, one of the most productive ever.
  • Tampa Bay’s chances of reaching the Super Bowl are increasing.

Gronk Traveling to Florida

Arguably the best tight end in the history of the NFL, Rob Gronkowski, will once again play alongside Tom Brady. Gronk, who retired after the 2018 season, decided to come back from the retirement and play once more with his favorite QB.

Pats held the rights on the 31-year old, who had one more year on his contract with the franchise from Foxborough, worth $9 million. However, he asked them to trade him specifically to Tampa Bay, to be in the position to play with Brady. Patriots sent No.87 to Florida along with a seventh-round pick for this draft, and in return, got a fourth-rounder.

Gronkowski confirmed his comeback in the text message to Fox Sports.

“I’m back. I always said when I have that feeling and it feels right, I will be ready to take the field again. And I have that feeling. I’m ready.”

Rob Gronkowski won three titles with the New England Patriots, and was alongside Brady, the player who contributed the most to those successes. It was often he who would come up with some unreal catches and scores, which would be crucial in the specific moments.

He and Brady connected 78 times for a touchdown, which is the most for a QB-TE relationship in the period between 2010-2018, which was the time when he played. However, it was not only that. Their relationship off the field and in the locker room was something that guided the Patriots through adversities, and the two guys were the symbols of the franchise.

Many are wondering, what is Gronkowski’s current physical state. According to his agent Drew Rosenhouse, the player is the best shape ever, and he already passed the physical test without any problems.

“He tells me he feels fantastic, the best he’s ever felt,” Rosenhaus said. “His weight’s back up to 260. He passed his physical with flying colors today. “

Buccaneers Aiming Super Bowl

The situation for Tampa Bay improved dramatically after this move. Not only did they got an experienced tight end, but the scorer who doesn’t need to adapt and adjust to the quarterback. Bruce Arians will have a new weapon in his arsenal, no sure, and having in mind his offensive creativity, the Bucs will have possibly the best attack in the league.

Brady’s targets besides Gronk are going to be Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, two guys who had 1,000+ yards. They both are fantastic receivers, and with the six-time champ behind them will no doubt have even more room to improve.

Right now, the Buccs are slowly climbing on the list of the SB favorites. Following Gronk’s arrival, they became an even more attractive destination, and it is normal to expect more big names landing in Florida. The majority would agree to play below their worth only to get a shot at the trophy.
