Real Madrid Routs Inter Milan; Bayern Munich, and Liverpool Demonstrate Power

  • Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League’s derby of the day, 3-2.
  • Bayern Munich set a new record for the competition with a 2-5 victory over RB Salzburg.
  • Monstrous Liverpool destroyed Atalanta in Italy, 0-5.

Real Gambles But Defeats Inter Milan

The most successful soccer club in the world, posted its first win in this year’s UCL after suffering two disappointing results earlier. Zinedine Zidane’s boys beat the Italian powerhouse, Inter Milan, with 3-2, holding off the guests who came back from a two-goal deficit.

Real was up 2-0 after 33 minutes, with Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos netting each one goal. However, Lautaro Martinez, one of the most talented players in the world gave hope to his team in the 35th minute, and from that moment on we saw a pretty interesting and exciting matchup in Madrid.

Inter was pressuring the hosts, creating several very good chances, before leveling the score in the 68th minute. That was when Ivan Perisic hit the back of Real’s net. Both sides would increase the tempo back then, but Los Blancos had more composure in the key situations, with young Rodrygo bringing them a win ten minutes before the end.

“We are pleased and relieved. We knew it would be a tough match, but we were ready and got the three points, which is the most important thing. Zidane asked myself and Vinícius to lift things on the pitch,” he said after the match.

Earlier yesterday, Group B saw Borussia Monchengladbach trashing Shakhtar in Ukraine, 0-6.

Bayern’s New Record

The reigning European champions beat Salzburg in Austria, 2-6, posting their 14th straight victory in the competition. In their long list of wins, the Bavarians have triumphs over Tottenham and Barcelona, where they score seven and eight goals, respectively.

Interestingly, Salzburg took the lead after four minutes last night, and even managed to level the score at 2-2. Yet, after that, the Austrian champs experienced the lethal machine from Germany.

Lewandowski, with two goals, Boateng, Sane, and Hernandez, scored for the guests, with Kristensen hitting his own net. On the other side, Berish and Okugawa delivered for the Bulls.

The first match of Group A, between Lokomotiv Moscow and Atletico Madrid had no winners, as it ended 1-1.

Liverpool’s Rampage in Bergamo

Diogo Jota scored three goals in Liverpool’s 0-5 victory against Atalanta in Bergamo. The Reds’ latest signing was the absolute king on the field, threatening the rivals each time while having the ball in his feet. Apart from the former Wolves’ forward, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane posted their respective names on the scoresheet, too.

Atalanta, the biggest surprise in European football in the previous year, was humiliated and severely beaten.

Group D also saw Ajax’s win on the road against Midtjylland, 1-2.

In the matches of Group C, Manchester City had no troubles against the Greek champions Olympiacos at home, notching a 3-0 victory. Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus, and Joao Cancelo scored for the hosts.

Porto beat Marseille at home with the same result, improving their chances to reach the knockout stage. Goalscorers were Marega, Oliveira, and Dias.
