Packers Use San Francisco’s Injury Troubles, Defeat 49ers, 34-17

  • The Packers were ruthless against the 49ers, 34-17.
  • Davante Adams once again played superb, with 173 receiving yards.
  • Richie James had 184 yards, and was the only bright spot in the 49ers team.

Packers Erase the Loss Against Vikes

Last week, the Green Bay Packers suffered an unexpected defeat at home against the Minnesota Vikings. However, they would erase that minus right away with a victory in San Francisco.

Aaron Rodgers and the guys used the fact that 49ers had numerous inactive players for this game, the starting QB and top three receivers, making it an easy one for the NFC North leaders.

They were up 21-3 at halftime and 34-3 during the midway of the final quarter. Even though many believed that the Packs are going to humiliate the hosts and go full speed until the end, that didn’t happen. LaFleur’s guys slowed down, allowing the home team to score twice in the final minutes.

Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns and had 305 yards, with 25 completions in 31 passes. As always, a large share of his passes was towards Davante Adams, who had 10 catches for 173 yards and a TD. Green Bay’s wide receiver stated following the match that he believes he is the best receiver in the league.

“I think that’s fair to say. I think that’s not being conceited. That’s just being confident. I think, obviously, what I’ve done and what I’m going to continue to do is going to prove that to anybody who isn’t on board with that.”

So far, he has a league-leading 8 TD receptions and three games with 150+ yards, meaning that Adams’ strong words have some backup.

Rodgers’ three more TD passes were towards Marcedes Lewis, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who had two, one 52-yard long.

49ers Without Chances

Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle, Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Deebo Samuel, and several other players didn’t appear for the 49ers tonight. Against a far weaker team, that would be a problem, let alone against the Super Bowl contender.

Nick Mullens was average against the Packs with 291 yards, one touchdown, interception, and a fumble. Jerick MacKinnon too, with 12 carries and 52 rushing yards, and one touchdown.

Richie James has 9 receptions for 184 yards and a score, displaying a stellar performance. The third-year WR exploited the fact that Mullens didn’t have many options, establishing himself as the primary target.

“I’m willing to do everything I can to help my team,” he said after the game. Having in mind that the 49ers have bad luck when it comes to injuries during this campaign, James could greatly impact their results.

San Francisco’s next two rivals are among the best in the NFC conference – New Orleans Saints and the LA Rams. What additionally complicates the conference champions’ situation is that both games occur on the road.

The Packers have an “easy” opponent next week, Jacksonville Jaguars. Following that, the Packs head to Indianapolis to meet the Colts, and play against the Chicago Bears in Green Bay after that.
