The Heat forward became just the sixth player to have multiple triple-doubles during one NBA Finals series. He would drop 35 points, have 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. On top of it, Jimmy B had five steals, missing less than a minute of tonight’s clash. Following the match, he barely walked.
“I left it all out there on the floor along with my guys, and that is how we’re gonna play from now on,” he said after the game. “This is the position we are in, we like it this way. We got two more in a row to get.”
Butler was in command throughout the entire game, and during the final moments of the match, the ball was in his possession. The Lakers’ defense had no solution to stopping the superstar forward or at least on how to slow him down.
But Butler wasn’t alone in his intention to take down the LAL. Duncan Robinson scored seven three-pointers in 13 attempts, for 26 points, five boards, and two assists. Kendrick Nunn once again played very well off the bench, with 14 points, and 4 rebounds.
The rest of the lineup also had a double-digit number of points. Bam Adebayo 13, with four rebounds and assists, Tyler Hero 12, and Jae Crowder 11.
LeBron took the ball with the Lakers being behind 109-108. He went towards the basket but was surrounded by three Heat players, having no other option but to pass the ball back to Danny Green, who was alone at the three-point line. One of the best three-and-D players in the league missed what should have been a routine job for him.
“We got a hell of a look to win the game, to win the series,” James said. “It didn’t go down.”
Still, LeBron didn’t hold any grudges against Green, but supported the teammate right after the game, saying that he still believes in him.
King James had 40 points and 13 rebounds in Game 5, adding seven assists and three steals. He was hot from downtown making six threes in tonight’s match.
Anthony Davis scored 28 with 12 boards, three steals, and blocks. The Lakers fans were worried because he had to go out in the late first after one jump. AD already had problems with his heal, but he got back on the court in the second and confirmed his status for Game 6 to the reporters.
“I’ll be fine for Sunday,” the Eyebrow stated and made life easier for the Lakers fans.
Besides these two players, the only one who had a notable impact was Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The LAL shooting guard scored 16 points, 6-for-15 from the field, hitting three threes in eight attempts. All others were under expectations.
