Sancho, who was already seen at the Old Trafford could change direction after landing in Manchester, and head for the Emirates stadium instead of the original destination.
The English and German media are reporting that Manchester United has certain troubles with finances and that they can’t pay the entire $145 million asked by Borussia Dortmund. It seems that the COVID-19 crisis has affected the Red Devils, whose income is largely dependable from marketing and sponsorship deals, and those two categories were struck hardest over the last two, three months.
According to the soccer insiders from Europe, the entire deal between all three sides was arranged in principal, and the player himself loved the idea of playing at the Old Trafford. However, the most recent developments are suggesting that such a scenario won’t’ happen.
It is when Manchester City steps into the stage, with its massive transfer budget. Sancho, who was a part of the Citizens up until 2017, recently stated to his close friends, that wouldn’t have anything against coming back at the Etihad if there were some indications that City wanted to buy him.
Of course, this immediately sounded the alarm off among the City fans who are now pressuring the management to react. There are some unofficial stories that they already had some contacts with the Millionaires from Dortmund, but none of them were confirmed.
Getting Sancho would be a double success for the Sky-Blues. They would get one of the best players in Europe and the cornerstone of the team for the upcoming decade and also snatch the player before United’s nose, which would definitely hurt the Red Devils’ pride.
Just to remind you, in 2017, City offered Sancho a $38,000 per week contract, the record for one academy player at a time. However, he refused that and jumped to Germany. After that, it is all history.
Sancho scored 19 goals and set up 19 more across all the competitions this year. He was the unstoppable force on the wing, and the majority of Borussia’s positive results came precisely because of him and his productivity.
The Millionaires were hoping to keep him onboard for one more season, and to see him paired up with Erling Haaland who recently arrived from Red Bull Salzburg, but it seems that they won’t be able to resist the call of the money.
Chelsea, PSG, Barcelona, United, City, (some suggesting Newcastle), Real Madrid, practically all the major clubs in Europe are after this youngster. So far, the player himself wasn’t very decisive when it comes to leaving Dortmund, but it is expected to see him moving away after the season ends. The offers he has on the table are just too good to be turned down.
