Man City Humilliates West Ham, 5-0

Manchester City showed its terrifying power against West Ham. The current Premier League champions won with 5-0, trashing the Hammers at their own court. It was a display of champions strength and a statement to Liverpool that they aren’t going to back out from another title race.

The Reds have demolished Norwich City in the inaugural game of the championship with 4-1. It was a start which all of the pundits characterized as a message to Man City. But the response was more than adequate. A pacey, lethal, and efficient performance, something the Sky-Blues often showcase.

Pep Guardiola was satisfied with the result, but he added that City has many things which need to be improved and that he expects to see that in the near future.

“What’s important is taking the three points. It is an incredible result, but we know we have to improve. We have many things to improve,”

the Spaniard said.

The game began a bit slower, but as time went by, things were starting to look as many predicted. City was taking over the control on the pitch, and slowly started to pressure, the Hammers.

It wouldn’t take too long for the first goal to arrive. The Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus reacted very well in the box and scored from a nearby. He managed to find a way to hit the back of the net besides several of opponents and his players.

The result wouldn’t change in the first half, despite several solid chances of the guests. They seized the control and never allowed the hosts to reach some opportunity to turn the momentum.

Quickly after the start of the second part of the event, Raheem Sterling raised the lead to 2-0. The member of the English national team was very inspired today, as he scored three times. Not only that he was a part of each action of the Citizens and was a constant threat for the home team.

Sterling made it 3-0, 15 minutes before the end, and scored once more in the stoppage time, sealing his first hat-trick of the season. If he continues to play like this, there is no doubt that we might see a few more from his side.

Following the match, Steerling stated that he constantly works on improving his executing skills, and that it really helps.

“I am trying to improve my finishing,” said City’s winger. “There are competitions in training, and it’s just a joy to put the ball in the back of the net!”

In between his two goals, Sergio Aguero, who replaced Jesus, managed to convert a penalty and put his name on the scoreboard.

With this victory, Man City is again at the top of the standings ahead of Liverpool. Meanwhile, the Hammers are at the bottom. Their manager Mauricio Pellegrini didn’t want to give any comments on his team’s performance. This defeat is a huge humiliation, especially because it took place in front of their own fans.

West Ham travels to Bournemouth in the next round, while champions head to Southampton.
