Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Has COVID-19

  • Khabib Numragomedov’s father is in a critical condition after being infected with COVID-19.
  • The Russian fighter revealed the situation via his Instagram account, and also urged all the people to follow the safety guidelines.
  • More than Khabib’s 20 family members have been infected with COVID-19.
  • Khabib has several options regarding his future.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov in Bad Situation

According to Khabib, his father is not good, and the medical staff is doing everything they can in order to recover the 57-year old. At first, Abdulmanap had pneumonia problems, which saw him falling into a medically induced coma. In the meantime, he had to undergo heart surgery, the second in the last year, and all that had to be executed because of the complications caused by COVID-19.

Khabib revealed the news regarding his father in an Instagram video, thanking all the people who support him.

“My father is still at the hospital. He’s still going through this disease. He also had a heart complication due to COVID-19. Abdulmanap had surgery for his heart last year and also had the second one these days [sic], so he is still in bad condition. That’s all I can say.”

After this, Khabib shared the news that more than 20 of his relatives also caught COVID-19 and that some of them even passed away, while others are still fighting for their lives.

The Russian Eagle also called all the people to follow the health measures and protect themselves all the time. The situation in Dagestan, as well as entire Russia, is critical, and the pandemic isn’t slowing down at all.

Who Will be Khabib’s Next Opponent?

Even though he is in a tough position, the media is still speculation about his next rival. The UFC lightweight champion has several options for a future contest.

The first and the most logical solution is Justin Gaethje, who recently defeated Tony Ferguson and captured the lightweight interim title, meaning that by all the rules, he should be clashing with Khabib next. It would be a battle for the unified lightweight champion.

Gaethje replaced Khabib at the UFC 249, which was supposed to feature the title match between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson. In the end, it turned out that the champ can’t meet El Cucuy and that he got stuck in his homeland.

This wasn’t Nurmagomedov’s fault, as they followed the information provided by his sources from within the organization. At the time, the COVID-19 pandemics was just starting, and all the sports activities in the USA stopped, meaning that the UFC events can’t take place. Khabib had the info about relocating UFC 249 to Abu Dhabi, and he and his team flew away to UAE. Eventually, that turned out to be false. He and his team had to go back home to Russia.

Apart from Gaethje, Conor McGregor is still in the media and is calling out the champion. The Notorious won’t back down from his intention to ear himself a chance for the rematch, but according to Khabib, that isn’t going to happen any time soon.
