The Green Bay Packers have been outstanding so far this season, and they have continued in the same manner this weekend. Matt LeFleur’s guys defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on the road with 31-24, notching the seventh since the campaign started.

The latest victims for the guys from Wisconsin were the Chiefs, who were heavily handicapped due to Patrick Mahomes‘ absence. Green Bay used that in the best possible way, and with two Aarons, posted a huge win which gives them nice prospects in the playoff race.

Aaron Jones was the one who carried the Packs last night at the Arrowhead Stadium. The 24-year old running back had been superb, and he not only presented a threat on the ground but proved himself to be very lethal as a receiver. Jones had 67 rushing yards, and 159 through the air, totaling up to 226. He also posted 2 touchdowns, one 67 yards long, when he tore apart the Chiefs entire defense to set the final score.

“He’s an explosive weapon,” LaFleur said. “You don’t find too many running backs that can go out there and produce like that. You don’t see many running backs that you can put them on the outside and run a slant-and-go.”

Packers opened the game very well, gaining a 14-0 lead with Jones and Jamaal Williams, each delivering one touchdown. But the home team had a fantastic response in the second quarter once they posted 17 unanswered points. Mahomes’ replacement Matt Moore threw two touchdown passes one for Travis Kelce 29 yards long, and the second to Mecole Hardman one yard longer. On top of that, Harrison Butker made a 28-yard field goal.

“Once we got in the flow,” Moore said, “we were kind of rolling for a little while.”

Throughout the third quarter, Mason Crosby’s 35-yard field goal was the only interesting thing, and both sides entered the last period leveled.  Jamaal Williams scored his second of the game for the guests. The Chiefs had their Williams, Damien, recording a TD with 9:01 until the end. However, they couldn’t stop Jones’ surge, which eventually sealed the game.

Aaron Rodgers showed his magic in the fourth once he made an incredible pass to Williams. It is probably the best touchdown pass of the entire season.

“These guys, I don’t know how they got the ball in there. A couple of those, their hands were right there…and the son of a gun got them in there,” said Andy Ried after the match on Rodgers’ performance.

Green Bay’s QB had 305 yards, 23 of 33, and had three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Moore posted 267 yards, completing 24 of his 36 passes for two TDs. He is playing well so far, but it seems that he can’t replace the individual quality of the reigning MVP in the decisive moments.

The Chiefs (5-3) host the Vikings next week at home, and that is one of the crucial games for their playoff plans.

Green Bay (7-1) heads for Los Angeles, where they meet the Chargers who defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday and did a favor to LeFleur’s company.
