Denver Broncos Defeat Jets in New York, Fangio Avoids Shaking Hands With Gase

  • Denver Broncos beat New York Jets on Thursday Night Football, 37-28.
  • Broncos’ head coach Vic Fangio didn’t allow his players to stay with the Jets’ players on the field, and he didn’t shake hands with Adam Gase.
  • Sam Darnold was sacked six times in this match.

Broncos For The First Win of the Season

Melvin Gordon’s 43-yard run resulted in a touchdown that solved this Thursday Night Football. His Broncos were 9 points away with 1:48 to go, and they would eventually record a first win of the year, after three losses and several devastating injuries.

“Winning has cured more ills than penicillin,” Vic Fangio explained following the match. He was probably thinking about the morale of the crew, which was severely damaged over the last two weeks.

Apart from suffering defeats against the Steelers and the Buccaneers, Denver lost its starting QB, Drew Lock, the star running back Philip Lindsay, and DT Jurrell Casey.

Even though their backup QB Brett Rypien didn’t have a stellar night, the Broncos managed to overcome all the issues and post a big triumph here. Rypien was 19-for-31 for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, but he did find a way to execute in critical situations.

Those two passes for scoring were to Tim Patrick, who had 113 yards, and Jerry Jeudy, who had 61 yards through the air. Melvin Gordon posted 107 yards on the ground in 23 attacks. Broncos’ defense was impressive, as they sacked Sam Darnold six times, Bradley Chubb had 2.5, and Josey Jewell two sacks.

Fangio Furiously Leaving the Field

Broncos’ head coach rushed towards the locker room the moment when the time expired. He didn’t allow his players to stay on the field as well, but ordered them to hit the exit. Fangio and Adam Gase didn’t speak or shook hands following the match. It seems that he didn’t like the way the Jets’ defense played in the closing minutes of the game. NYJ was way more physical with tackles as if they wanted to hurt the guests.

“Well, there just was a couple personal fouls there at the end, and our sideline was getting pissed off about it,” Fangio revealed the reason for his action. “And I just wanted to avoid any confrontation at the end of the game and having it get ugly there.

Darnold’s Tough Night

Sam Darnold had to leave the pitch for a moment, to evaluate his shoulder, after picking up a slight injury. He would come back quickly but experience another loss and one hell of a beating.

As said earlier, the Jets’ QB was sacked six times for 54 negative yards. He didn’t have any TD passes or interceptions, throwing for 230 yards. Though, Darnold did run well in this match, posting 84 yards on the ground for one TD.

His favorite target was Jamison Crowder, who caught 7 passes for 104 yards. Jeff Smith had the same number of receptions for 81 yards. Pierre Desir intercepted one of Rypien’s passes and returned it all the way, for 35 yards.

The Jets meet Arizona Cardinals at home, while New England hosts Denver Broncos.
