DeMarcus Cousins Might Miss the Entire Season due to Injury

According to Jeff Schwartz, DeMarcus Cousins’ agent, it appears that his client suffered a massive injury. Boogie tore the ACL and will probably miss the entire upcoming season.

That information was confirmed by his new teammate Kyle Kuzma, who spoke about it in front of the media. Kuz stated that Cousins’ injury is “super-unfortunate,” and that such an injury is not a joke at all. The Rising Stars MVP also told that Boogie’s role in the team was supposed to be very significant.

“That’s kind of how the ball goes sometimes. You just never really know. … He was going to be a big part of what we’re going to do.”

The player had to leave the training this Monday, but at the time nobody expected for the injury to be this serious.

Cousins’ left knee has already been damaged once, and that was in early 2018 when he tore the Achilles. He was with the Pelicans then, but later switched to the Warriors. In April this year, Boogie tore his quadriceps, and that is something which could severely decrease his overall impact on the court.

For big players like him, and the style of play he has, mobility is essential, and knee injuries are the worst possible thing. During the 2018 season when he was with the Warriors, Cousins spent the majority of the season trying to recover from a torn Achilles. When he finally did and reached some kind of a normal shape he picked up a quad injury during the playoffs.

Once heard about the bad news, his previous coach Steve Kerr was shocked and very upset.

“I’m devastated for DeMarcus,” said coach  Kerr. “It’s been a couple of years of hell for DeMarcus. … We are all crushed for him.”

Several other former teammates and coaches also expressed their support and offered help to the four-time All-Star.

The 29-year old has been trying to reach the NBA title at any cost in the recent few years. After getting traded from the Sacramento Kings in 2017, he spent one season with Antony Davis and the Pelicans, before heading for Oakland.

His plan was simple. He wanted to take the ring and see what happens next, but the plans fell through. He then decided to reunite with AD and join his and LeBron’s Lakers in the hope of finally reaching the NBA trophy.

The fifth overall pick from the 2010 NBA draft, and arguably one of the top 10 big guys in the last decade, decided to give up a ton of money in order to reach the ring. He signed a one-year deal with the purple and gold worth $3.5 million, despite having an opportunity to gain big dollars somewhere else. Previously, his contract with the Warriors was a little bit higher than $6 million.

Unfortunately, he probably won’t be in a position to help the purple and gold, especially when we know that he had tough issues with that left knee.
