Dana White Would Book Georges St-Pierre For Khabib’s Final Fight

  • Dana White is ready to accept any proposition Khabib Nurmagomedov has considering his last fight.
  • Among the names mentioned, White is even willing to organize a fight with Georges St-Pierre.
  • The Russian Eagle has a plan to quit fighting after reaching the 30-0 record.
  • His next opponent is Justin Gaethje, who recently defeated Tony Ferguson at the UFC 249.

White Willing to Book St-Pierre for Khabib’s Farewell

The UFC president said yesterday that he wants to take any suggestion Khabib Nurmagomedov might have when talking about his retirement battle.

White, stated that he knows about Khabib’s plans to retire once reaching 30 straight wins in the MMA. If the current lightweight champion defeats Justin Gaethje (who is his next opponent), the Russian will receive a chance to achieve his goal. In that particular case, White is ready to accept any suggestion Nurmagomedov has. Even if it involves the legendary Georges St-Pierre.

“Sure, [I would be open to St-Pierre] if it’s his last fight. This guy’s been great to the company, great to the sport. I like Khabib a lot. I would do anything Khabib wanted to do.”

St-Pierre is in retirement, after briefly coming out of the same to defeat Michael Bisping at the UFC 217, stripping him of the middleweight title belt.

He is considered to be one of the best MMA fighters of all time, setting numerous records and being a champ in two divisions, welterweight and the above-mentioned middleweight.

St-Pierre, ended his career with 26 wins and two losses against Matt Hughes, and Matt Serra, but avenging both of them in rematches.

For Khabib and his father, the Canadian was arguably the best fighter ever, and they both had a tremendous amount of respect for him. In 2019, they tried to book a match with GSP, and according to his words, he accepted the idea, but the UFC didn’t show interest in organizing the same.

Challenging Times Ahead of Nurmagomedov

Khabib lost his father and mentor recently, which is a massive blow for the Russian Eagle, who now has to deal with his rivals alone. That could be a problem, because surging Justin Gaethje awaits across the octagon.

After demolishing Tony Ferguson at the UFC 249, the Highlight emerged as arguably the toughest opponent in Khabib’s career. The American is in a fantastic form, and it seems that after the initial struggles he experienced once coming to the UFC, he gained confidence and experience.

The bout between these two guys is projected for the late part of the year, possibly at the UFC 253, according to some sources.

If Khabib wins this match, he is just one step away from his original goal, and the retirement also. White would mention Conor McGregor also, but added that the chances of witnessing a rematch between the Nurmagomedov and the Notorious are slim.

“At the end of the day, the Conor McGregor [rematch], I know Conor has wanted that fight since the last one [in October 2018],” White said. “That’s a fight to make, but I don’t know. We’ll see how this plays out.”
