Big Win for the Eagles in a Terrible Game

This Sunday Night Football brought a big battle between two NFC East rivals but without a quality worthy of such a prime time game. All those who had the opportunity to see the game weren’t especially thrilled.

On one side, a five-year veteran Carson Wentz had arguably the worst night this year, with four turnovers and numerous mistakes. On the other, a rookie QB picked as the 231st choice; Ben DiNucci had a rough experience as the starter for the first time.

These two guys combined for six turnovers, with Wentz having four and DiNucci two. However, a more experienced player had two TDs as well, which would make a difference in the end.

Philly’s QB threw for 123 yards, 15-for-27, hitting Travis Fulgham and Jalen Reagor inside the end zone. Wentz had two interceptions and fumbles each, and now leads the NFL with 12 picks in the 2020 campaign.

Eagles’ defense took care of the rest. They would constantly pressure DiNucci once reaching onto their part of the field, keeping him away from the red zone. In the defining moments of the match, Rodney McLeod recovered his fumble, returning it for 53 yards and a touchdown, which gave the hosts a two-possession lead, 21-9. It secured Philly a much-needed win.

“We knew it was gonna be a battle, of course. But we held strong when it came down to holding them in the red zone, and I’m happy that we stuck together,” defensive end Brandon Graham said.

Boston Scott rushed 15 times for 70 yards, Travis Fulgham had six receptions for 78 and one TD, and Reagor three for 16 and also one score.

DiNucci’s Rough Start at the Big Stage

The third-string QB on Dallas’ roster tasted what it feels to play with the big boys tonight. DiNucci was 21-for-40, without a TD and a pick, but with two fumbles. He would also lose 48 yards following four sacks.

“I thought he did some good things. You know, it was a tough contest for the young man,” Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy stated. “To come into his first opportunity for live-action in the National Football League on Sunday Night Football, division game… I felt he did some really good things.”

Ezekiel Elliott had a subpar performance with 63 rushing yards in 19 carries. Without Prescott and Dalton, more was expected from the All-Pro running back. Amari Cooper was also terrible with just one reception for five yards. Michael Gallup had seven for 61 yards.

Dallas is 2-6, and they have two very tough clashes coming up this week. The first one is against the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers at home. A week after, the Cowboys head for Minneapolis, where they meet the Vikings.

Eagles 3-4-1, hold the top place in the NFC East and visit one more divisional rival next Sunday, the New York Giants. Doug Pederson’s company would afterward move one to Cleveland to face the Browns.
