Chiefs and Packers Victorious on Monday Night Football

  • Kansas City Chiefs were better than the New England Patriots.
  • The champs used all the injury problems the guests had coming into this event.
  • Green Bay Packers were confident against the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Robert Tonyan had three TD receptions, keeping the Packers perfect.

Chiefs Better Than Pats, 26-10

The result in this match is a bit deceiving because Kansas City had to dig deep in order to post a victory. New England’s offense stopped Mahomes and his crew all the way up to the finish, with the short blackout of the Pats allowing the champs to snatch a triumph.

With 8:57 to go, Mecole Hardman caught a six-yard pass from Mahomes, extending the lead Chiefs had to 19-10.

On the very first snap of New England’s drive, Tyrann Mathieu picked Jarrett Stidham and returned the ball for 25 yards to seal the triumph.

“We had some opportunities tonight (and) weren’t able to take advantage of them. You can’t give a team like that those kind of opportunities,” Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick explained. “Turned the ball over four times. Had too many penalties.”

Cam Newton’s absence hurt his team very much, with the two QBs who replaced him, Stidham and Brian Hoyer, combining for three interceptions and one fumble.

On the other side, Mahomes had 236 yards, for two touchdowns, without turnovers. His TD passes went to Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman.

Chiefs host the Raiders in the next round, while the Pats await the Denver Broncos.

Perfect Rogers, Superb Tonyan for Packers’ 4th Straight Win

Aaron Rodgers and Robert Tonyan carried the Packers to a win over the Atlanta Falcons 30-16 in the original Monday Night Football contest. Rodgers had four touchdown tosses, and three ended in Tonyan’s arms, with the relatively unknown TE becoming his No.1 attacking option in this match.

The Packs had numerous problems with Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, and Marcedes Lewis unavailable to play, but they managed to adapt and find new ways to score.

“I just had to continue to do what I’ve been doing, just keep playing well and stick to the game plan. Like I’ve said before, when plays come to me, I’ve got to make them,” Tonyan stated.

He had six receptions for 98 yards, Jamaal Williams 8 for 95. Aaron Jones caught one TD, and had 111 yards from the scrimmage.

As for Rodgers, he had four passes for a touchdown, 327 yards, 27 of 33, without an interception or a fumble.

“He’s one of those guys who’s self-motivated,” LaFleur said about his QB. “It doesn’t take anything other than he wants to be the best. He usually is the best every Sunday when we’re out there.

The Packers are 4-0, with Rodgers having 13 TDs without an interception so far. But not only that. He led Green Bay to a furious start of the campaign, where they scored at least 30 points in each match so far.

Packs are free next week, while the Falcons host the Carolina Panthers.
