Bundesliga Continues, Alphonso Davies and Bayern Seeking Revenge

  • Bundesliga comes back this weekend with a Berlin Derby – Hertha vs. Union
  • Canada’s Alphonso Davies and Bayer Munich are clashing with Eintracht Frankfurt, who inflicted them a humiliating defeat in the first half of the season.
  • Derby of the round in Monchengladbach, Borussia vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Round Kick-Off in Berlin

The biggest city in Germany has its own derby, and it is a rather intensifying one. Herhta will meet Union at the Olympic stadium. In normal time, the full capacity of 75,000 spectators would be filled, but because of the COVID-19 pandemics, this won’t happen.

The hosts are slight favorites, mostly because of their last week’s win in Hoffenheim, 0-3. Union, however, needs to bounce back following a defeat against Bayern Munich at home and start collecting points; otherwise, they will face lots of problems regarding the relegation battle.

Davies and Bayern Want to Even the Score Against Eintracht

One of Bayern’s most humiliating defeats in the last decade took place in Frankfurt back in November. The hosts smashed the champions with 5-1, and provoked many changes in the club. Niko Kovac, who was the head coach at the time, was fired following this disaster, with Hansi Flick succeeding him in that spot.

Flick brought in many positive changes which would later transform Bayern into one of the best teams in Europe, and top contender for winning the Champions League.

Among others, Canada’s Alphonso Davies got an even bigger and more important role in the team, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe, although being a teenager.

Bayern is the absolute favorite in this game, and it is expected to see them playing with 100 percent, even in the moments when they have a clear situation. Their pride was heavy hurt in the first leg, and the champions are going to be ruthless throughout the entire 90 minutes, seeking to get even with the Eagles.

On the other side, Frankfurt is in a difficult situation, and they might be in trouble after this loss, as they approach the red line, which separates the relegation zone from the rest of the league.

Monch and Leverkusen Clashing for the Champions League

We are going to see one highly interesting matchup at Borussia Park in Monchengladbach, where hosts await Bayer Leverkusen.

These two sides are two points away from one another, and are in the hunt for the UCL spot. Right now, Monch has 52 points, RB Leipzig 51, and Bayer 50. So, it is pretty much interesting. By the way, Bayern has 58 points, meaning that there are theoretical chances of staying in the title race.

Both teams are playing efficient and interesting football, with lots of goals, and that guarantees the spectacle.

In other games, the second-placed Borussia Dortmund is visiting Wolfsburg, who is trying to save place No.6 and the ticket for the international stage. It would be pretty interesting to see that clash too.

Freiburg meets Werder Bremen, Paderborn hosts Hoffenheim, Schalke does the same against Augsburg, while Red Bull travels to Mainz. In the last game of the round on Monday, we have FC Koln at home against Dusseldorf.
