Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies Beat PSG in the UEFA Champions League Final, 1-0

  • Bayern Munich won the Champions League trophy this Sunday night, defeating PSG in the finals, 1-0.
  • Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and forward Kingsley Coman were the two leading players in the German team.
  • Neymar utterly failed to meet the expectations.
  • This was the sixth title for Bayern.

Neuer and Coman Take Down PSG

The only goal in the match was in the 59th minute when Kingsley Coman hit the back of Keylor Navas’ net. The French forward who played in PSG for almost 11 years routinely executed a cross from Joshua Kimmich, who saw him alone on the far post of PSG’s goal. It was the only goal in this match.

“This is an extraordinary feeling. I feel a lot of joy, but also sadness for Paris. It hurts my heart a bit even though I am 100% Bayern as I have said,” Coman explained.

Besides Coman, Manuel Neuer was the pivotal piece in Bayern’s win. The veteran goalkeeper saved his team at least three times, one of them stopping Neymar’s early try, which would probably be a goal if it weren’t for Manu in front of the net.

PSG had more chances, and they were better, but one of the best attacks in the world, failed to score. As we said, Neuer was the main reason for that, and many believe that he should have won the Man of the Match award.

Bayern, too had a couple of solid opportunities the score, with Lewandowski’s being the most dangerous. During the middle of the first half, just after PSG’s surge, which saw them endangering the Germans, Lewa hit the post after one shot from the heart of the box.

Even though he didn’t score tonight, interrupting a fantastic stretch, the Polish striker made a massive impact on the game, with his constants runs and excellent movement.

Disappointing Neymar

The Brazilian’s game could be described with just one word – disappointing. He was without concentration, didn’t made the right decisions, and in certain moments, Bayern’s players managed to throw him off balance, and that is when he began to manifest frustration.

Apart from that one excellent chance blown in the first half, we haven’t seen anything from him. Moreover, he was the negative factor in PSG’s second-half performance, losing too many possessions and frequently slowing down the game.

His destiny at Parc des Princes is highly doubtful, and we might see his departure pretty soon.

Davies Wins the Silverware

Canada’s Alphonso Davies was one of Bayern’s best players in this campaign. The teenager was rolling over all of his opponents throughout the entire time, and it appears that COVID-19 pause didn’t hurt his form.

Right now, he is one of the best defenders in Europe, without even turning 20 years.

“Who would ever have thought a guy from Canada would win the Champions League? Two years ago, if someone had told me this, I never would have believed it,” he stated after the match.

Bayern will meet Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup. The Spanish side defeated Inter in the Europa League finals, 1-0.
