Arsenal Lands David Luiz, Lukaku Leaves Manchester United

The clubs from the English Premier League had a busy Thursday, as it was the last day of the transfer window in England. We saw several exciting moves which took place in the final minutes of the deadline. Also, a few bid deals have fallen through in the end.

Arsenal was the most active club during the last day. They landed Chelsea’s David Luiz who decided to leave Stamford Bridge. It was by far one of the most shocking deals in England over the recent few years. Luiz, 31, has been one of Chelsea’s most famous players, but it appears that he is not in Frank Lampard’s plans. The value of the transfer is £8 million.

The Gunners have brought another defender, and that is Kieran Tierney, the former left-back of the Scottish powerhouse Celtic. This superb player cost £25 million, but is expected to solve issues in Arsenal’s back line. The team got back some of the money spent by selling Alex Iwoby to Everton for £35 million.

So all in all, the Gunners had a solid transfer window, with the majority of deals closed in the final minutes.

Meanwhile, Manchester United had a nice ending of the negotiation period. The Red Devils sold Romelu Lukaku, at last. Inter Milan paid £74 million for the Belgian international, and did a favor for Ole Gunnar Solskajer who didn’t count on the strong striker. There were two options for his departure, one to Juventus who offered less cash but Paolo Dybala, and the other to Inter who wanted to pay only with money.

Dybala’s demands were a bit cheeky, and United tried to find a solution to land the Argentinian at the Old Trafford. But it seems that the player didn’t want that to happen. The Lukaku saga was threatening  not to have a happy ending for United and the Belgian, but Inter’s desire to have him was too big,

With this transfer, the Red Devils regained most of the money spent on the world’s most expensive defender Harry Maguire, who came from Leicester for £80 million,

Tottenham wanted to surprise everyone during the last day of the transfer window. The Spurs were aggressive in their pursuit of Paulo Dybala and were close to reaching the Juventus’ star, but unfortunately, nothing happened. But their other target was successfully landed in London. Giovani Lo Celso came from Betis on a one-year loan. If everything goes well during his stint here, the Spurs will buy the Argentinian playmaker. According to many Premier League experts, this means that Christian Eriksen might leave North London pretty soon. English clubs can’t buy players anymore but can sell because the transfer window in the rest of Europe is still underway.

The champions Manchester City swapped players with Italian champ, Juventus. Danilo ended up at Allianz Stadium in Turin, and in the opposite direction came Joao Cancelo, the right-back who was Pep Guardiola’s big wish.

The Premiership begins this Friday, with a match between Liverpool and Norwich City.
